FAQ about our Spill Kits

What is a spill kit?

A spill kit is a collection of items conveniently packaged for use in case of a spill, leak or other discharge of oil, chemical or any other liquids. Whether we’re talking about chemical spill kits, fuel spill kits or general purpose spill kits, every type of spill control kit is designed to do the same thing: ensure a prompt response and clean-up.

What are the types of spill kits?

There are three main types of spill kits. The types you choose depends on what liquids you may have to clean up. Oil Spill Kits include with absorbents that repeal water and float on water, and is used to clean up hydrocarbons only (such as oil, fuel, diesel, petrol, hydraulic oil, etc). A Chemical Spill Kit is made with absorbents to clean up aggressive and hazardous fluids such as acids, solvents, corrosives and unknown liquids. And Universal Spill Kits are made with absorbents to clean up both water-based fluids and hydrocarbons. We also supply bodily fluids spill kits, formaldehyde spill kits and mecury spill kits, so you can be prepared for any situation.

What’s included in a spill kit?

Spill clean-up kits typically contain two or three types of equipment: protective clothing or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), absorbents, and instructions for the handling and disposal of saturated absorbents. The contents of a spill clean-up kit vary depending on the application i.e. the type of liquid that’s been spilled (chemical, oil or general liquids) and the size of the spill.

How do I choose the right spill kit?

Start by considering what liquid will be absorbed. This will determine whether you need oil diesel spill kits, chemical spill control kits or general use spill kits. Then, think about the volume of the worst-case scenario spill. Do you need a small or large spill containment kit? Finally, where is the spill likely to occur? With our comprehensive range, you can select the right spill kit to deal with any incident that may arise. For more advice or to discuss your specific spill kit requirements, contact our team.
